Essential Job Functions:
- PLC and HMI Programming: Develop and implement programs for PLCs, HMIs, and other automation devices across various industrial manufacturing applications.
- Equipment Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair issues with process equipment and instrumentation, including HMIs, PLCs, drives, servos, safety systems, flow meters, etc. Collaborate with a team of automation engineers and technicians, providing technical support as needed.
- Project Documentation: Create functional descriptions, flow charts, and control narratives for automation projects, ensuring clear and detailed documentation.
- Control Panel Design: Create and wire electrical control panels according to project requirements using AutoCAD.
- Drive Integration and Startup: Integrate, program, and commission AC/DC and servo drives to ensure optimal performance.
- Project Quoting: Prepare detailed project quotes based on customer specifications.
- SCADA System Design: Design and program SCADA systems using platforms like Ignition, Wonderware, and others for industrial settings.
- Safety System Integration: Design and integrate safety monitoring systems, including safety relays, light curtains, scanners, safety mats, and more, into existing equipment to enhance operational safety.
- Electrical Drawing Production: Create and update electrical drawings in AutoCAD Electrical to reflect system changes or additions.
- Robot Programming: Program and commission robotic systems to meet operational requirements.
- On-Call Availability: Be prepared to provide on-call support to address urgent issues.
Education and Experience Required:
- Electrical Certification: Possession of a 309A or 442A electrical license, with substantial experience in control systems within an industrial process environment.
- Relevant Education: Holding a degree or certification in Control Systems Technology, Engineering, or equivalent electrical controls education is advantageous.
- Industrial Experience: Proven track record of working in industrial settings.
- Mechanical Skills: Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, excelling in hands-on fieldwork such as machine wiring, component mounting, panel modifications/retrofits, and cable installation.
- Communication Abilities: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to understand and address customer requirements effectively.
- Controls Proficiency: Extensive experience in control systems, with a proven ability to learn and adapt.
- Programming Expertise: In-depth knowledge of programming in Siemens and Allen Bradley, with experience in other platforms considered an asset.
- Code Knowledge: Excellent understanding of the Ontario and Canadian Electrical Codes.
- Driving Record: Maintains a good driving record.
